 ### Staying Safe During Your Visit

 

## Fire Safety

Like any building, hotels can experience fires. Take a moment to plan what you would do in case of an emergency — you won’t have time to plan once a fire starts.

- When you check in, locate the two nearest exits and make sure they are unlocked.
- Count the number of doors between your room and the exits — this will help you find your way if the hallway is smoky.
- If you hear the fire alarm, act immediately — don’t investigate.
- If the fire is in your room, leave immediately, close the door behind you, and notify the front desk or fire department.
- If your room door is hot to the touch, do not open it. Stay inside. Seal cracks with wet towels, turn off fans and air conditioning, call the fire department, and signal for help from your window.
- If your door is cool, open it slowly and proceed to the nearest exit. Crawl low under smoke, where the air is cleaner.
- Always take your room key with you in case you need to return.

 

 

## Safety & Security

Your comfort and safety are important to us. Please follow these guidelines to ensure your personal security:

**Room Security:**

- Always use the deadbolt lock when you are inside your room.
- Ensure any adjoining or connecting doors and windows are locked.
- If someone knocks, confirm their identity before opening the door. Use the peephole and, when in doubt, call the front desk.
- If an employee you did not request contacts you or shows up at your door, verify their visit with the front desk.

**Keys & Valuables:**

- Keep your room key secure. Return it to the front desk when you checkout.
- Avoid leaving valuables in plain sight and do not hand your room key to others.
- Store money, jewelry, and other important items securely.

**Hotel Grounds & Parking Areas:**

- Stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
- Report any suspicious activity to hotel staff immediately.
- Always lock your vehicle and avoid leaving valuables inside.

 

 

## Weather Safety

**Tornado Watch**

Means severe weather is possible. Stay alert, monitor local news, and be ready to take shelter.

**Tornado Warning**

Means a tornado has been detected by radar or reported by trained spotters. If you are in the affected area, act immediately:

- Take shelter in a small, interior room on the lowest floor, away from windows and outside walls.
- Protect your head — use a mattress, blanket, or pillows.
- Avoid doors, windows, heavy furniture, large open areas like auditoriums, and long hallways.
